Our ZOO Needs Your Support

There can hardly be a child within the village that has not visited Chester Zoo. Many families, parents and grandparents alike, have enjoyed the annual season ticket over many years. During the pandemic, the Zoo's 'virtual days' have cheered up the nation and the Zoo's 'learning resources' have helped thousands of home-schooling families. That said, Chester Zoo is sending out a plea since it is now under enormous pressures during the continuing lockdown restrictions.

The copy below is taken from the Zoo's Website ....

'The Zoo has created all the necessary safety measures to comply with government guidance in what is a huge outdoor site with 128 acres of zoological gardens and 16 kms of pathways – all of which remain closed. It is incredibly difficult to identify the logic in allowing people to pile onto beaches and into public parks, where there is no way of controlling numbers, no way of guaranteeing people are socially distanced and no way of ensuring safety, but state that Chester Zoo must remain closed.

Since writing this article, talks have taken place with the Government – a Minister says that the Government will support Chester Zoo.
Chester Zoo has welcomed the decision but say they need to be able to reopen now.
