Do you love where you live?

Are you willing to take action to keep it lovely?

An opportunity is here for you to help ensure our neighbourhood is a place of which to be proud.

The Great British Spring Clean (*) and Great Big School Clean is scheduled to take place between 21st March and 6th April 2025, giving any thoughtful volunteers the chance to spruce up their streets and park areas – it's amazing how much litter collects in bushes and hedgerows, and against fences.

Litter can cause harm to young children, who may pick things up, or injure themselves on crushed cans our broken glass. Litter also harms animals and birds, who end up eating or getting trapped in plastic bags, and injured by broken glass and tin cans dumped in their habitat.

A recent report from TWIG, who carried out a big clean in advance of the Great British Spring Clean, showed that there is still a need to keep on top of clearing away what some people mindlessly drop or cast away, or that the wind gets a hold of and transports elsewhere.

The good news is that anyone can lend a hand and join the big clean-up. According to a survey of last year's volunteers, 95% said they'd enjoyed taking part.

More than three-quarters of those surveyed also agreed the annual event brings communities together, while a YouGov poll showed that for over 31.6 million UK adults, litter-free streets help them to love where they live.

If you want to get involved, simply visit keepbritaintidy.org and pledge to fill any number of bin bags you choose. You can pledge as a group, individual or as a school, and you'll be making a difference with every item you pick up.
