On Monday 18 March the pre-election period will begin ahead of the Police & Crime Commissioner elections on Thursday 2 May. The Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) will continue to operate during this period and when the transition to the next term formally takes place will provide support to the electedCommissioner, whoever they are.

While the incumbent Commissioner is seeking re-election, during the pre-election period the OPCC will continue to provide support only in regard to its statutory functions and management of business as usual. The OPCC will not provide support for any of the candidates during the pre-election period and indeed staff within the OPCC are restricted by statute from doing so in a personal as well as professional capacity. There will be no announcements or press releases promoting the work of the incumbent Commissioner that are in any way novel or contentious after the start of the pre-election period. The home page of our website and our social media accounts will be updated with neutral branding and the OPCC will issue communications during the pre-election period only to encourage Cheshire residents to have their say.

There is a dedicated election page liveHEREwhich provides information on how to vote, how to stand for election, and what the functions of the office are.
