Tattenhall's much used children's playground has a bright yellow sign specifying the rules defined by the Parish Council. For the record, the text shown in the adjoining photograph reads:
"Tattenhall and District Parish Council cannot accept responsibility or liability for any claim, loss or damage whatsoever which may arise, resulting from the use of this facility except so far as provided by the statute."
"No Smoking" "No Dogs" "No Litter" "No Glass"
"Nearest Telephone: High Street, near Village Store"
"All enquiries or reports to: The Clerk – Tel:01829 771379 or any Parish Councillor"
Comment: This playground is being used by a large number of children and can be counted a huge success. The signposted regulations seem strong but in general uncontentious. One stipulation, "No Dogs" is stronger than that for surrounding areas, namely picking up after pets and keeping on a lead. Tattenhall dog owners are overwhelmingly supportive of the current regulations so a further measure may rankle a little. On reflection, the purpose of the extra regulation is a wise precaution to prevent inadvertent contamination which can cause serious damage to children's health. It is also noted that the high level of activity in the playground could lead to accidents harming dog or child.
