Thanks to everyone who turned out for TWiG's 'National Meadows Day' walk through both Jubilee Wood and the newly planted Memorial Wood; you were not disappointed.

The wildflower glades in Jubilee Wood were in full bloom and the 3 scrapes in Memorial Wood, which some of you doubted would come to anything at all, were absolutely resplendent – blooming marvellous, in fact, with masses of corn marigold, corncockle, cornflower, poppies and chamomile.

Pollinators are in crisis. A decline in pollinators affects the health and diversity of plants, with further implications for the animals that eat them. This can result in millions of direct and indirect adverse consequences on the balance of nature; all the way up the food chain to the food on our table!

Well TWiG (with the help of the community) is certainly trying to address the imbalance with extensive planting of wildflowers.

Particular thanks to Mike Jones, our Ward Councillor, who came to take a look at TWiG's remarkable conservation work in the community, and to two of our four DofE Students who were in attendance; both of whom were celebrating the completion of their 52 hours of volunteering with TWiG throughout the last 12 months (in all weathers) as part fulfilment of their Gold Award.

There were so many competing activities in Tattenhall on Saturday, that TWiG cannot thank you enough for supporting their work in the community.

We include a selection of photographs (including a drone shot in which a scrape of wildflowers resembles a discarded handkerchief, deposited on the local landscape).

Thanks to Bolesworth Estate, the Woodland Trust and Robin Langford for their support in this ongoing project.
