The Tattenhall Park Primary School has been absolutely thwarted this week with unprecedented utility and power failures in what can only be described as 'A Perfect Storm' and which has been completely beyond their control. The combination of circumstances has been sufficient to test the patience of any sane individual.

We now understand that other parts of the village were also without power this morning.

The first priority for any Headteacher is the safety of the children; please be assured that Mrs Hawkins has worked tirelessly to

  • ensure the safety of all the children
  • keep the school open and to minimise inconvenience for parents and carers alike
  • try and keep a sense of balance with children who have prepared tirelessly for their productions and Christmas events (they are so excited and still have yet another week in school until the Christmas break)
  • ensure that the rescheduled Years 3/4 Play will take place this afternoon

This update has appeared on the school website for information – Friday 15 December
We are again without power to some parts of school. Scottish power are attending school as a priority and aim to be with us within 3 hours. As we have water (albeit cold water) we can open school but some of the heating is affected as is the fire alarm.
Mrs Hawkins has spoken to Eric Burt with regards to the potential issue with the fire alarm. We will follow his advice which is to put into place temporary measures that there will be the continuous blowing of a whistle in the event of a fire to ensure everyone evacuates the building safely. He has said it is fine for us to open.
Please ensure that the children come to school in their own clothes, are dressed warmly with layers and have shoes with good grips. Aside from the power supply problem, the roads, paths and car park is very icy so please take care.
We aim to keep the school open and hopefully have everything operational as soon as possible however, please be advised that the phones and internet are not working in school as the previous outage has affected the broadband supply to both school and the library. All updates and texts are being done from mobile phones so please bear with us if there are typing errors.
Again we apologise for the inconvenience, it is a situation which is out of our hands unfortunately
