We are starting a new monthly initiative – 'PC PR Comment' (Parish Council Public Relations Comment).
This is a positive way of sharing with our users, matters relating to the roles and responsibilities of our Parish Council and to keep you up to speed with what they are doing on our behalf.
The Parish Council too will be more proactive in posting general information on their own Website and we will provide links to that too. This monthly feature is not intended to replace news on their own site, rather to complement it.
So here goes – our first 'PC PR Comment' for December 2016.
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!
With the upcoming festivities almost upon us, it is worth reflecting on the volume of work that goes into creating our village High Street, perfectly 'Dressed For Christmas'. This work is undertaken voluntarily by a variety of community individuals together with the Parish Council who fund the trees, lights, timers and garlands. In case you didn't know, we have a lovely benefactor, 'Peter Miles', who has historically donated the very large tree annually. You may have already noticed that the large trees are now in place and that the High Street is positively twinkling in the approach to the festive season. Bolesworth Estate is always responsible for the erection of the tree on the Millfield (having collected it from Windmill Farm), together with those which are then positioned at Olympus House, The Sportsmans and the tree within the Barbour Institute itself; for that we thank them. If you are out and about this weekend, you might also see some Parish Councillors balancing on ladders as smaller trees, together with their lights and timers, are placed above most of our High Street businesses.
The 2 Christmas Parties which are free of charge to all children aged 11 years and under, and which take place on Saturday, 17 December, are also organised by the Parish Council. This is a ticketed event, so please ensure that you collect your tickets from Tattenhall Library on the 6th and 9th December between 3.15-4.30pm. Parents, of course, are welcome at the party for the 'reception and under' children and which takes place between 2.30-3.30pm. Year 1-6 children can simply be registered at the door and their party is from 3.50-5.00pm. Father Christmas will be at both events and will be distributing an early Christmas gift to each child. There will also be drinks and sweets! We thank the Barbour Institute for their support in kindly donating free use of the hall and kitchen for the annual Christmas parties.
The PC will also be busy preparing for the Hog Roast, together with traditional Mulled Wine and, of course, Community Carols. The Hog Roast, (also on Saturday 17 December), takes place on the Millfield and starts at 3.00pm whilst the Community Carols starts a little later that evening at 6.00pm. Please support this event since all the profits will be donated to the Tattenhall Play Area Fund.
And finally, let's not forget some community stalwarts who have a tremendous input but who would prefer their names are not mentioned. They are supportive of all that we do and the life of the village is richer for their inputs.
So, pause for thought as you enjoy our terrific village this Christmas.
