  • April's meeting opened with a heartfelt vote of thanks in gratitude to the work of Jean Dutton, Clerk to the Parish Council for 33 years. Jean's knowledge, energy and capacity over this remarkable period was recognised, not only in support of Parish Councillors but in support of all members of the community, past and present, who are indebted to Jean's prolonged input. The vacancy of Clerk is now advertised - Cllr Weaver wished it to go on record that she is not applying for this position, contrary to some local comment.
  • Matthew Morris, Bolesworth Estate Manager, reported on the flooding on Chester Road. He confirmed that action has been taken, together with Robin Langford, on one side of the road, ensuring that both the ditch and culvert are absolutely clear. However, it is likely that the responsibility now lies with the owner of land on the other side of the road and that the ditch has not been cleared, thus blocking the calvert on that side. The PC agreed to report this to CWaC and to Highways.
  • PC Giggs reported on the theft of 5 Ewes and the theft of plant and agricultural equipment. The theft of Ewes is extremely worrying at this time of the year and the theft of large agricultural items suggests organised crime. He advised that individuals be absolutely vigilant and report all suspicious activities. PC Giggs also advised that 'Operation Shield' will be rolled out on 8 May and this will be reported on separately.
  • Individuals raised the issue of 'Dog Fouling' in the village (specifically in the Millfield and area behind). Every reader of Tattenhall Online will know that dog fouling has been covered previously but on this occasion it was agreed that the Dog Warden be approached and undertake spot visits to Tattenhall. It was also agreed that the frequency of emptying overflowing bins be investigated.
  • Other issues followed the Agenda, awaiting outcomes and/or pursuing aspects in relation to Highways/Enforcement etc and which have been raised in previous meetings.
  • It was reported that the installation of stock-proof fencing at Glebe Meadow is complete.
  • A tree survey is required to comply with insurance regarding The Spinney. This was actioned.
  • An update of the Community Land Trust was given by Cllr Chapman. There was much more optimism regarding this update compared with the update in March. The Chair and Cllr Chapman have liaised with architectural practices; Cllr Weaver has submitted the pre-planning application to CWaC; a Case Officer has been assigned; and discussion took place regarding the lease/sale of land and funding in relation to the legal costs.
  • It was agreed that the Annual Parish Meeting, the AGM of the Parish Council and the next meeting of the Parish Council will all take place on 14 May, starting at 7.00pm.
  • Following the receipt of a letter regarding the grass verges on Park Avenue, the PC confirmed that when a verge is owned by Highways, then dealing with any issues in relation to that verge are the responsibility of Highways.
