Spring is definitely arriving, and with the spring the possibility of visiting gardens open under the NGS. This scheme raises money for charities, both national and local. There are a number of very local gardens opening in the next few weeks, and a chance to see how other gardens have managed the challenging weather of this winter!

This weekend on Sunday 22nd April, Long Acre in Wyche Lane, Bunbury is open, this is a 1 acre garden with some rare and unusual plants, the camellias, magnolias and bulbs should be looking good.

The Bank Holiday weekend at the beginning of May is a chance to visit Mount Pleasant in Kelsall, on the 5th and 6th. And also Framley in Willaston, Neston on Monday 7th May. This was a garden visited by Tattenhall Garden Society last summer, a woodland garden which would be good for a spring visit.

On May 20th, alongside Tattenhall Hall garden being open, a new garden at Stretton, Tilston is opening, this is Stretton Old Hall, it is a new garden of 5 acres with a planting style which is described as controlled exuberance.

For more information on these gardens and the NGS, check out the National Garden Scheme website by CLICKING HERE, or Cheshire NGS booklets are available in the Barbour Institute.
