Missed Surgery Appointments – Working Towards 'Outstanding'

Our Village Surgeries Practice is ranked 'Good' and (with your help) is seeking to move towards an 'Outstanding' classification.

This year's Patient Participation Survey has helped identify strengths and weaknesses and provide information upon which we can act.

The results of the survey and the actions to be taken are recorded in the PPG autumn newsletter which you will receive next week (tucked within the September issue of the Parish News Magazine).

However, our practice, like others, records missed appointments. Failure to attend booked appointments can cause serious delays in the treatment of other patients. It also wastes Doctors' and Nurses' time. During the months of May, June and July, there were:

May 2018 – a total of 125 missed appointments

• Doctors 32
• Nurses 85
• Other 8

June 2018 – a total of 102 missed appointments

• Doctors 34
• Nurses 102
• Other 9

July 2018 – a total of 108 missed appointments

• Doctors 34
• Nurses 64
• Other 10

We urge you to ensure that if you have a pre-booked appointment which you know you will be unable to attend, then please let the practice know so that your appointment can be cancelled, thus allowing capacity for someone who might need to see one of our practitioners.

This applies to appointments with both a doctor and/or a practice nurse.
