Mental Health Concerns in Children

localsafeguarding

1 in 10 children and young people, aged 5 – 16, suffer from Mental Health conditions which means around three children in every class! Nearly 80,000 children and young people suffer from severe depression!

With this in mind, the Safeguarding Children Board at Cheshire West, supported by Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and the National Charity 'Young Minds' are offering a one day event, specifically for parents and carers to attend.

This event will take place at the Civic Hall in Ellesmere Port (CH65 0AZ) ON Friday 24th March at
9:45am – 3pm.

The day is designed to provide lots of information, practical advice and access to services that can answer questions and provide help for families. The main aims are:

  • Understand Young People and their behaviour – what is normal and what's not?
  • Know when to seek help. How? Who?
  • Build resilience in the child and themselves
  • Develop coping skills and relaxation techniques
  • Learn from others experiences and seek advice form expert
  • Gain a greater understanding of what services can support the child and family

There is NO EXPECTATION for parents to discuss their child's personal circumstances but there will be an opportunity to discuss it with professionals, if you wish to do so.

To request a place, please contact LSCB by phoning 0151 3566 614
