Mad Dogs and Englishmen – Follow Nigel's Fundraising for Chester Zoo Elephant Research

You will all know of the Shakti Shanti business on Church Bank which opened last September and the owners of whom are Nigel and Kate Wood. Their international yoga and leisurewear brand is made of durable and eco-friendly materials which are sourced and made in Cape Town and where the company is committed to supporting the local community.

Nigel, both the founder and director, is just about to embark on an intensive 100 mile Elephant Trail Run through the vast Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa – and all monies raised are to assist the Chester Zoo research programme, committed to curing the deadly elephant virus, EEHV. This virus affects young elephants globally.

This physically gruelling challenge takes place between 2-4 March.

It is also relentless; the Addo Elephant Trail is designed to test runners to their absolute limits with a strenuous 100-mile course across the Eastern Cape over a two-day period. Adequate mental and physical preparation are of the utmost importance to each runner, as the mountains, valleys and terrain are extremely difficult to navigate. Nigel has been undergoing a programme of intensive marathon style training for 2018.
Last year's attempt at the 'ultra-run', saw Nigel completing 100kms out of the maximum 160kms of non-stop running so he is pretty determined to tick the box in 2018.
