Big Imaginations Festival, live theatre for children and families in Cheshire

Cheshire Rural Touring Arts are delighted to be part of the Big Imaginations Festival as part of their new and exciting season of live performances this Autumn.

The CRTA festival shows offer fantastic fun for children and families, transporting them to lands full of fairy tales (good and bad), beautiful puppetry and ancient fables from across the world. Each show has a free 1 hour art activity for ticket holders so you can have some creative fun before the show.

grannylocks

Award-winning performance poet Joseph Coelho freshens up familiar children's stories in his Fairy tales Gone Bad. Grannylocks/The Monstrous Duckling is especially for children aged 3+. Joseph's unique storytelling style unwinds the true stories behind the happily-ever-afters which are maybe not as charming as you remember. A warm welcome awaits you at Lion Salt Works on Wednesday 1st November, the show starts at 2pm.

tales of birbal

Tales of Birbal by Mashi Theatre takes audiences on journeys around the world, using puppetry and humour to share the glorious richness and zest of traditional fables that have been loved across the Indian sub-continent for generations. Share in this magical story for age 6+ at Tarvin Community Centre on Friday 3rd November, the show starts at 6pm.

The festival takes place from the 19 October – 5 November at 26 venues across the North West and Yorkshire showcasing the best in children and family theatre. The festival is the only one of its kind to take place in the North West. This year English radio and television presenter Anita Rani has partnered with Big Imaginations to help increase diversity of theatre. Anita commented:

"I grew up in Bradford and early theatre opportunities allowed me to see that a journey and career in the arts is possible for young people like me. Big Imaginations and lead partner Z-arts are committed to investing in the voice of diverse artists; paving the way for the best work for young people to truly reflect our society and beyond."
