The first meeting of the Parish Council for 2018 was relatively quiet with very few members of the public in attendance during the Open Forum. The Chair wished everyone a 'Happy New Year' though he, and many Cllrs, were suffering with heavy colds!

Sarah Stanyer was in attendance and introduced her new business (which has been featured on Tattenhall Online). Sarah is starting an Arthritis Care Support Group for anyone living with arthritis, chronic pain or fatigue. She will be at the Barbour Institute on Wednesday 10 January between 6-8pm. For more information about the group and to register interest contact Sarah cheshireacpfsg@gmail.com

Matthew Morris wished to express his sincere thanks and gratitude (on behalf of the Bolesworth Team) to all who had sent expressions of support following the major incident which took place at the car park adjacent to the Echo Arena on New Year's Eve. It was also agreed (after the public forum) that The Parish Council would write to the Estate in praise of their very swift actions and successful risk assessments during such an unprecedented incident.

The failure of CWaC to grit roads in and around Tattenhall and the failure to deal with flooding on gateways into the village was raised. This was also an agenda item. Cllr Jones, who was in attendance, referred to a map of the gritting schedule/routes (available online) and it was agreed that the Chair would contact CWaC regarding the criteria for gritting local roads and requesting an explanation as to why several roads in our locality have not been gritted e.g. Frog Lane, Rocky Lane, the Gatesheath Bend, bridges on Tattenhall Road, parts of Tattenhall Road etc. It was emphasised that some of these roads were public bus routes, school bus routes and were used by local businesses.

The Resilience Plan (produced some years ago) was raised and this would be re-examined but it was felt that this document referred to major incidents that might occur in the village rather than annual problems relating to winter weather.

Hedges have been partially dealt with and the Clerk confirmed that she was in receipt of a document confirming that they would be finished by the end of January.

Regarding verges, and particularly those in the vicinity of Chestnut Grange, Cllr Weaver agreed that she would investigate this further but in Redrow's defence she stated that they have always restored the verges when they have been requested to do so and she stressed that others are responsible too e.g. lorries dealing with waste collection etc.

The Parish Council expressed congratulations to Martin Cooke and his MBE award.

Various planning applications were listed, some of which require further investigation and/or representation at the CWaC Planning Mtg to be held at headquarters on 9 January.

Reports were given from the Community Pride Group and the Community Land Trust. It was also noted that our Community Police Officer would provide feedback on vehicles speeding on the A41 (notably evening trucks).

Feedback would also be prepared by the PC regarding CWaC Local Plan (Part Two) Land Allocations and future housing/transport implications.

As usual, draft minutes will appear on the Parish Council Website within 10 working days.
