When it comes to modern developments, developers are typically responsible for naming streets and roads in the neighbourhoods they build. Those of you who attended this month's Parish Council Meeting will know that street names on the new Redrow development, for example, were debated. Names based on particular characteristics with which local people might associate, often begin to shape any new neighbourhood.

Thanks to a member of our community, therefore, who has written in and alerted us to the following.

Inspired Villages on Frog Lane has named one road adjacent to its marketing suite 'Clough Street' and, another 'Good Street'. At the same time, our contributor also reminded us of 'Grakle Croft' which is adjacent to the doctor's surgery.

What's in a name you ask?

Starting with 'Grakle Croft' which is highly topical as we approach The Grand National which, this year, will be held on 8 April. 'Grakle' was a local horse who won the Grand National Steeplechase in 1931 – the full story of this remarkable horse appears on our local history website CLICK HERE.

Similarly, 'Good Street', is presumably named after 'Donald Good' who was an accomplished local photographer in Tattenhall; many residents will have official photographs taken by Donald Good within their homes, of that I am sure. His story also appears on our local history website CLICK HERE.

And finally, 'Clough Street' must surely relate to Sir Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis who was a British architect known chiefly as the creator of the Italianate village of Portmeirion in North Wales (most famously remembered for the TV series 'The Prisoner' which was filmed there). Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, at the request of Robert Barbour, also designed the pair of cottages (Rose Farm Cottages) with the Palladian Facade which stand at Rose Corner, Tattenhall.

Thanks to this morning's contributor!
