The Tattenhall Gardening Society begins its new season on October 9th, with a talk by the head gardener of the Dorothy Clive Garden -Zdeněk Valkoun-Walker. He has given talks on BBC local radio.
He will be delivering a talk on
'The amazing world of chillies; from seed to fruit yield',
on Wednesday 9th October at 7.30pm for 7.45pm.
You will be taken on an incredible journey starting in Mexico – the home of the chill – and crossing over to Asia, then Africa and beyond.
Zdeněk will also be offering his green-fingered advice on sowing chilli seeds and germination to potting on, growing outside and over wintering. Zdeněk germinates and grows all of the chilli plant collection at the Dorothy Clive Garden which goes on show every year at their annual Chilli Festival Event.
The Gardening Society meets monthly from October, until May, with a break in December and January when everyone is hibernating! The meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7.30 for a 7.45 Talk in the Barbour Institute.
If you want to learn more about gardening including growing unusual things like Chillies, and want to meet up with like minded people who are passionate about all things in the garden, then come along and join us. Non-members are always welcome to come at £3.
We hopefully have an exciting season of talks ahead of us – in November we have a talk on everyone's favourite winter flower the hellebore, or commonly known as Christmas Roses.
The talks are advertised here on this website, and in local free newspapers and the Parish News.
