Brian Mellor has informed Tattenhall Online that his Harthill Cookery School will be featured on The One Show this Friday 7th September. Brian and his team have been involved in a cookery initiative called Life Kitchen
Life Kitchen is a cookery initiative set up to help people living with cancer and those caring for them. It offers relaxed, friendly cookery classes tailored particularly to the needs of people who have received chemotherapy.
Food writer and stylist Ryan Riley founded Life Kitchen last year, in memory of his mother Krista. Since then, he has been developing recipes and working with cookery schools across the UK in preparation for the first classes.
Ryan explains that the classes focus on maximising flavour from food. "About 50% of people receiving chemotherapy experience a loss or change of taste – as my late mother Krista did. It can be very difficult for those affected to enjoy food unless they, or those caring for them, know how to adapt dishes so that they can taste them."
Earlier this year, Brian worked with and kindly donated all the facilities of his Harthill Cookery School to Life Kitchen for a day of cookery lessons. CLICK HERE to learn a bit more about Life Kitchen and to view some photographs of what went on during the day.
STOP PRESS: The Harthill Cookery School has just been informed that they are in the finals for The Food Awards England. We wish them the very best of luck.
