Spring is coming to the Park School Memorial Garden, and the early years play area.

A joint project has been started with the school, PTA and three members of the Transition Tattenhall Mini meadow project, to enable the children to get involved in growing flowers and vegetables. Hot of the Press -last night the Parish Council have agreed to give the project a grant to boost their efforts.
A greenhouse was erected in the school grounds as a memorial to a much valued member of staff and parent, who sadly died too young. It is now to be a useful part of the new growing project. Now with the help and cooperation of all groups it is hoped a garden will flourish , and the school grounds will be full of colour and scent. This will provide food and habitats for insects, and add to the biodiversity of the school grounds.

Pots have been planted up with bulbs. Ground alongside the fence and footpath, has been prepared, ready to sow annual wildflowers. Thanks to those who contributed the compost gravel and pots. Seeds planted by some of the pupils are in the greenhouse ready to germinate. Wild flower seeds will be sown when the cold spell passes.

Potatoes are chitting ready for planting in April in the vegetable bit of the raised bed.

There are plans to plant up large tractor tyres with aromatic herbs for a sensory experience. Runner beans, carrots and peas will be grown in troughs. Meanwhile the early years have been exploring the mud!

The RHS is promoting the National Education Nature Park Initiative, supporting schools to play a driving role in mapping and monitoring biodiversity on their grounds and taking action to enhance it, the school have now been linked in to this project.
