GREAT BIG GREEN WEEK

The plastic free picnic was a great success . On a lovely sunny morning fifteen people arrived in the Spinney with their plastic free picnics.

The winner of the challenge was Karen who had gone to the trouble of purchasing a recycled plastic lunch box. Her sandwiches were wrapped in paper and she was delighted with her find as she will be able to use it over and over again. The group have since received booklets from the Marine conservation trust about the importance of reducing single use plastic.

The Sports club is now providing water so that instead of bringing plastic water bottles people are able to refill their reusable bottles which is excellent news.

The Recycling talk at Tattenhall Primary school went really well and the children now have recycling bins for paper and the Recycling talk at Gifford Lea from Tara Dumas of CWAC went well.

The giant cigarette is in place outside the Post Office encouraging people to use the new ashtrays on top of the bins. The poster about the damage plastic is doing to our rivers and seas is in place in the Parish Council notice board. Sadly we have not yet received our Bronze level award for reducing single use plastic in the village. Hopefully this will happen eventually!!
