As reported previously, the extension to Jubilee Wood is to be planted with at least 700 trees in the coming days. Thanks to volunteers that have already been in touch and to our DofE students who will be on site working towards their Gold Award. If any other volunteers wish to pop down that would be great – the planting of just 1 tree will help and collectively it's all contributing to supporting climate change, increasing biodiversity and continuing to mitigate against future flooding in the heart of the village.

The saplings (provided by the Woodland Trust) are scheduled to arrive this week and planting will take place on Friday and Saturday 24 and 25 February from 09.00hrs. We anticipate that all planting will be finished on these two days.

Access to the site is via Footpath FP2 from Burwardsley Road to Dark Lane. Signage will be attached to the kissing gate at this point.

Please bring a spade and gloves and wear appropriate clothing/footwear. Pack yourself a drink and snack if required.

In addition to the tree planting, we will also be seeding the three scrapes that have been created for woodland wildflowers. Forks will be available to rough up the soil before spreading the seed.

The trees and shrubs to be planted include :Dogwood, Guelder Rose, Hawthorn, Holly, Hornbeam, Wild Cherry, Wych Elm, Oak, Silver Birch.

Thanks to TWiG, Bolesworth Estate and the Woodland Trust in supporting this initiative.

We look forward to seeing you.
