The next TGS meeting is to be held on Wednesday 8th March, 7:30pm at the Barbour Institute.
Howard Drury was born in Lincolnshire, started selling lettuces at 6 years old. He trained at local Agricultural college before going on to Edinburgh Botanic Garden as a Student, He moved to Birmingham, working for 20 years as a Horticultural Training Officer and as researcher and presenter on Central TV’s Gardening Time. He writes, runs gardening clubs, gives horticultural advice, and runs gardening holidays around the world. He was closely involved with ExtraCare Charitable Trust, where for than 20 years they have been using gardening as a therapy in the form of a gardening competition.
For many years he has been closely associated with Ashwood Nurseries, giving him access to John Massey's garden and a wealth of horticultural excellence that is incorporated into many of his presentations.
The last meeting of the season is on May 13th with a talk about Daylilies.
Followed by The Garden Societies Annual Plant Sale May 16th.
We will then be taking a break- working in our gardens! Until the season begins again in September with the Annual Show – this year on September 6th.
