Far far away

When Tattenhall Online was launched two and a half years ago, the webteam received considerable help from the team running Audlem Online. During our conversations with them the topic of overseas viewers came up and they told us that early on in their development they had been asked whether their website was capable of being viewed by people overseas. They had then written a tongue-in-cheek piece saying that there was only one city in the world where AudlemOnline could not be read and that was Invercargill on the southern tip of New Zealand's South Island. Within days they had had a message from a reader in Invercargill saying that AudlemOnline came through loud and clear in Invercargill!

One of our webteam has just returned from New Zealand and visited Invercargill to find out whether Tattenhall Online could be seen from there; he confirmed that it was visible not only in Invercargill, 11841 miles from Tattenhall, but also on Stewart Island, New Zealand's third largest island, 20 miles further south. The top picture shows a typical residential street in Invercargill – wide streets, low houses and big skies; the lower picture shows the only settlement on Stewart Island – Oban, with a population of 381.

We would love to know if any of our readers have accessed Tattenhall Online from further away; in all probability they would have to be viewing from an Antarctic research station.
