Police & Crime Commissioner, John Dwyer, is teaming up with the Youth Fed, Institute of Advanced Motorists (Roadsmart) and other emergency services to help young drivers stay safer on Cheshire's roads.
The Commissioner is funding a young drivers event, where young people can hear from Cheshire Constabulary, Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service (CFRS) and the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) about risks on the road and how to stay safe. They will also benefit from practical driving sessions led by IAM Roadsmart.
Statistics from CFRS show that in 2021, 26% of incidents on Cheshire's roads that led to death or serious injury involved young people aged 17-25. The aim of the event is to put the fun into driving for young people by boosting their driving skills and confidence. Ultimately, better drivers save money and are safer.
There will be four sessions throughout the day:
In addition to gaining new skills, attendees will be entered into a draw for a prize which will help them go even further in improving their confidence on the road.
The event is for young people aged 17-29 and will be held from 09:30 -- 13:00 on Friday 20 May, at Safety Central, Cliff Lane, Lymm, Warrington WA13 0TE.
