COP26 CHALLENGE 31st October -14th November

Where can you start – join the Tattenhall Climate Change Challenge.

The Global Climate change conference COP26 (Conference of the Parties) is being held this year in Glasgow. The media is awash with programmes and discussions about Climate Change and the threats to the world if we don't do something about it.

You may think this should be dealt with by the big powers, the big corporations, who produce the polluting and damaging products. Without action from us – the purchasers of their products and services, little might change, as short term profit seems to outweigh the impact of global warming. The serious effects of which may not come into effect for another 30 years or so. By which time some of us will no longer be here! But our children and grandchildren may well be suffering, the worst case scenario would mean even more floods, fires, storms, death of insects – which are essential in the growing of food. The Arctic ice is melting at a much faster pace than had been previously thought, this means sea levels will rise, the oceans will be warmer, and fish supplies diminished. Low lying areas may well be inundated by the sea – places like Liverpool, and the North West coast could be uninhabitable.

These are all huge issues and unthinkable about.

But what can you in your small way do ?

Over the 10 days of the COP26 conference we will publish a tip a day to help you think about how you might change little things in your life to make a difference. Just think if everyone did it then big changes can happen, so if possible share with your friends.

So the first challenge before this begins on Sunday 31st October, is to complete this carbon footprint, and at the end of the 10 days to repeat this to see what difference you may have made.
