A message from a Volunteer for Nightingale House Hospice.

This Hospice is based in Wrexham and it's catchment area is to the south and west of our village. Its main fund raising event this year is for a group of supporters to raise donations by participating in the Dalai Lama Trek in India.

Read what one of these supporters has to say:
"In just under 6 weeks I will be traveling to India, with 22 others, sleeping in tents, wild weeing, nowhere to wash my hair and walking 52km, one day walking higher than Snowdon.
Why am I doing it?
In January I started working at Nightingale House Hospice, which is such a special place providing amazing, personal, and compassionate care to those living with life limiting illnesses. I have seen the challenges our patients and their families face every day. I am doing this challenge to raise awareness of the hospice and and to raise vital funds that are necessary to provide continued support and care free of charge to our patients and their families.
Please if you can spare £10, please do sponsor me to help the hospice. Although we do receive £1million from the government, we still have to raise £4.6million to provide essential support and care to our patients and their families every year.
Every penny really does help -

  • £360 pays for a patient to receive 6 sessions of pain relief therapy, and we also provide this support to their carers.
  • £37 a day funds oxygen for our patients.
  • £756 funds 3 meals per day for our 12 bedded in-patient unit over one week.

Please sponsor me to make a difference.
