A recycling talk given by the CW&C Strategic Waste Manager
Recently a talk about CWAC's recycling scheme was given at the Barbour Institute by their Strategic Waste Manager and one of the Your Streets team. Several areas of recycling and improving our streets were covered. This is a summary of what was discussed.
The possibility of having a dedicated bin for plastic and glass bottles and cans that are left around the village and collected by our band of volunteer litter pickers.
The chance to borrow more litter pickers for the volunteering day on Monday May 8th.
Free compost for use in projects around the village.
The problem with Bank holiday collections of the litter bins. Often they don't happen and this causes overflowing litter bins which then scatters round the village.
Clips are available from CWAC for bins if there is a problem with them blowing open.
More wildflowers will be coming our way this year which will help with the birds and the bees!
Hopefully there will be copies of available of some of the interesting slides showing where our waste goes and what happens to it once it has been collected.
There is a website where you can discover how to recycle things that may not be recyclable locally : www.recyclenow.com//recycling-location.
The Parish Council, Transition and other groups are working hard to improve the appearance of our village and it is good to know. CWAC are there to support the work being done.
