Coppiced Hazels - A Note for Your Diaries

As summer changes to autumn, TWiG (Tattenhall Wildlife Group) will again be coppicing the hazels which they manage at the edge of Jubilee Wood.

The response to TWiG's sustainable initiative has been absolutely staggering; both locally and from further afield.

Individuals and groups from as far as the Wirral, Merseyside, Warrington, Penyffordd, Rowton and Chester have previously collected hazels to use as bean poles, pea sticks/wigwams, and walking sticks as well as for a multitude of team-building programmes.

  • Should you wish to collect any coppiced hazels (which will be available from the beginning of November), then please contact us to arrange collection at:
    -twig20189@gmail.com or phone Andrew on 01829 770026
  • We are asking for a donation of £10 for each bundle i.e. as large as you can personally carry — all monies will be poured back into our local conservation work.
  • We will arrange a 'Covid secure pick up' at your convenience.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support.

It might be that residents would wish to walk the 'Heritage Trail' around the village either during Half Term or, importantly, during the period of Remembrance in November. This is particularly poignant this year since not only is the Tattenhall War Memorial area cordoned off with what appears to be some slippage (we await the survey report), but because Remembrance itself will be a...
