A reader has contacted us and commented that the 'white lines' on some of the roads within the village are in a very poor state. This is a matter for CWaC at Highways Maintenance.

Whilst there has been a lot of upgrading of road surfaces and of re-markings recently, should you wish to contact CWaC then CLICK HERE.

In context, there are plans afoot (in some counties) to remove white lines from selected roads since some trials have revealed that their removal actually reduces average speed levels.

Concerns have been raised, however, that the removal of white lines may affect those with ageing visions and might negatively impact on certain safety technologies in modern vehicles that rely on road markings to warn drivers if they are drifting across a lane.

In addition to the poor quality of some white lines, some of the road signs in the village are also 'bleached' – on Burwardsley Road, for example, the national speed limit sign is so bleached that is can hardly be seen (that might actually be a benefit in that drivers do appear to accelerate toward it, rather than accelerate away from it). Such issues are also a matter for Highways.

We have also covered the issue of 'Speeding' within Tattenhall back in August 2016 – CLICK HERE

We hope this clarifies any concerns.
