Businesses invited to sign up for community solar project.

Transition Tattenhall have created an initiative that will deliver low-cost green energy to businesses across the region and bolster local communities. Transition Tattenhall Solar is working with local companies to install solar panels at their premises. Businesses and organisations across Cheshire are being encouraged to get in touch before the end of the year to be included in the first wave. Those signing up will benefit from energy supplied at below market rates, decarbonised operations and greater community involvement. Anticipated to last 15 years, a share offer will be launched in the new year for anyone interested in investing in the project.

Opportunities for businesses to get involved are set to close in December.

Transition Tattenhall Solar is a bold new initiative designed to empower local businesses to
embrace clean, sustainable energy.
Businesses who sign up will have solar PV panels installed at no cost and will be able to purchase renewable energy directly from Transition Tattenhall Solar at a discount. The project is being managed by Transition Tattenhall, a Community Benefit Society committed to tackling climate change by reducing carbon, improving biodiversity, reducing consumption and strengthening community resilience, alongside a team of volunteers and partners including North West Net Zero Hub.

The organisation has received initial funding from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) via the Community Energy Fund (now Great British Energy Community Fund) to explore and understand the full commercial viability of the Transition Tattenhall Solar project. Representatives are speaking to businesses in the local area, from farms to industrial units to visitor attractions, with an annual power demand of 100,000kWh or greater. The cost of buying, installing and maintaining the panels will be managed through a community share offer launched next year. This will allow local people to invest, earn a return and help fund more green initiatives in the future through Transition Tattenhall’s ongoing community projects.
