As the year draws to its close there is much to report in terms of another successful community initiative. That said, you might just want to purchase a 'lasting' Christmas Gift – the deadline is looming.

Our Community Path ...

Within and without the village, the initiative to create a 'People's Path' has captured our imagination and highlighted the strength of our wider community. Already, a staggering £6000 has been raised to provide a brick-edged community pathway 'for all' within the Churchyard which will extend from the Clayton Gate entrance on Chester Road to the new Community Room.

The 'Buy a Brick Project' was always going to be a gamble but it has proved to to be fun, easy, simple and profitable (just as it says on the 'brick') and for that we thank you. As with our historic Tower, it is intended that the path be floodlit during the evenings. The pathway will be completed in the New Year 2016.

The ownership of the pathway lies with us – who hasn't used the pathways in the Churchyard already? The pathways act like corridors linking various sections of the village together. Lots of us treasure the Church building and the Churchyard in which it sits and we are fiercely protective of this historic site. The majority of individuals who have purchased the 'bricks' have no direct association with the Church.

With the path now in its final planning stages, we simply have to give some thought to any last minute inscriptions – a family name, a legacy of your wedding date, a child's christening date, the names of loved ones (past and present) – some of the bricks will even bear the name of a much loved pet!

So, please ....

* Give some thought to a final personalised Christmas Gift.
* Don't miss the deadline of 31 December 2015.
* Just complete the form in the Parish News or online.

We'll all be stepping out in the Spring, enjoying the success of yet another community initiative.
