A sudden and fierce fire broke out in a hedge near the Rookery surgery, on Monday afternoon.
The neighbours and passers-by quickly responded and joined together to form a running chain, to carry buckets of water from a house a 100 yards away.
The blaze spread along the length of the hedge and was threatening one of the sheltered houses but the collaborative efforts of all concerned, led to the fire being brought under control and halting its progress towards the house.
The Fire Brigade arrived and finished the job.
Thanks to the timely and committed actions of all involved a more serious outcome was avoided.
Communities create good neighbours and it's their actions that saved the day!
Congratulations to all involved and thanks to Cheshire Fire Service.
