To recognise the vital role of young people in driving climate change, Cheshire West and Chester Council is offering opportunities for young people to participate in the borough's 'West Cheshire: Action on the Climate Emergency Summit' on Friday 22 November 2019.

The event will bring together Leaders from the Council, local communities, experts, business and industry and will give young people the chance to express their views on how the climate emergency should be tackled, explore its causes and challenge local politicians on the actions they are taking to make the Council, and the borough as a whole, carbon neutral before 2045.

The Council's champion on the climate emergency, Councillor Matt Brian said: "Young people will bear the brunt of the effects of the climate emergency and many have strong feelings and opinions on the subject.

"We want to hear directly from our young people about their concerns and what they feel the council needs to do so we can make it happen.
"We are asking individuals to submit short films, also known as vox pops, which will be used to create a longer film that will be shown to delegates at the official opening of the summit.

"If we are to have the impact we urgently need we must get the talents of our youth on board so I encourage every passionate young person who wants to have their say to get involved."

Detailed guidance for creating videos can be found on the Council's website and videos can be sent in by email:

Deadline for submissions is Friday 8 November 2019.
