Andrew Hull, Chair of the Sandstone Ridge Trust, is thrilled to announce that the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge has been shortlisted for AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) designation.
This announcement is a remarkable achievement and Andrew, together with all Sandstone Ridge Trustees, would like to thank the many individuals and organisations who have supported the Trust in this long-term ambition.
This is a watershed moment in seeking to 'Conserve, Connect and Inspire' current and future generations in understanding and caring for this unique landscape and its diverse habitats.
It is also a landmark point in the conservation and enhancement of the nation's living and working landscapes; taking forward Government policy priorities and ensuring that our landscapes are able to deliver more for people and for nature.
The shortlisting process has been long and rigorous and the Trust very much looks forward to working with Natural England and other stakeholders toward achieving full status as an AONB.
There will be challenges ahead as we continue to demonstrate political and public engagement and support.
At this moment, however, celebrations are in order.
