Cheshire Constabulary has adopted a Neighbourhood Policing Model and rebalanced the workforce (PCSO redundancies and warranted Police Officer increases) to best equip our team to support the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee.
Within Chester LPU we will see 6 additional Police Constables on the Neighbourhood (beat) teams and a reduction of 3 Police Community Support Officers (from 12 to 9). Locally we have been carrying 3 vacancies for some time so operationally there is not likely to be a noticeable negative impact. Four of our PCSOs have left the organisation but we will gain 4 PCSOs from other teams who bring with them experience of diverse communities. The 6 additional Police Constables are yet to be appointed.
Expectations remain around conducting surgeries and road safety activities, visiting educational establishment and places of faith, communicating with Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators, Parish Councils, and Ward Councillors. We will continue to work in partnership to solve local problems and ensure appropriately targeted actions.
Our beat areas (the old council ward areas) with the allocated PCSO are as follows; there may be some slight alterations as staff settle in and we have a better understanding of demands.
