Cheshire Cross Country Championships 2021
Sport & Leisure Tattenhall

The Cheshire Cross Country Championships were held on the 17 April in Betley, near Crewe. The race was run over an undulating 4 mile course, conditions were good and the weather was unseasonably warm!

The Tattenhall ladies' team was a bit lacking in numbers on the day, but both George Ross and Alli Grundy put in good efforts. George Ross came 9th overall and 3rd in her age group, in a time of 28:30. Alli Grundy was close behind with 12th overall, and also 3rd in her age group, posting a time of 29.04.

The Tattenhall men's team was out in force however, with each member competing well in their particular age group categories. First in a Tattenhall shirt was Craig Connor, coming 11th overall and 7th in his age group. Both Paul Shannon and Mike Whiteside were 1st in their respective age groups, with Paul being 50th overall in a time of 26:36, and Mike 106th in a time of 34.06. Paul was pushed all the way by James Jenkins, who in the same age group was 2nd in a time of 26:47 and 52nd overall. Nick Holmes battled with both James and Paul and was 65th overall in a time of 27:23. Simon Duckett unused to the lack of mud and steep hills, still managed a sterling time of 24.26, was 24th overall and 5th in his age group. The youth of the team, Charlie Weaver competed very well in the under 20s age category coming 5th!

Quite a day!
