Bridge Works at Milton Green

A concerned reader has written to let us know what is happening on the A41 at Golbourne Bridge, in Milton Green, near Applegates. There have been temporary traffic lights there since Thursday 15th and their presence causes significant delays on this busy section of road.

On enquiring about this at CWaC Highways one week on, he has been advised that the northbound side of the bridge has been badly damaged by a vehicle, probably a lorry, clipping the kerb and the parapet wall. As a result, the roadway and bridge have been destabilised and will require a major repair, something which will necessitate road closures, as work cannot be done with traffic passing, on such a narrow bridge. Planning for this is underway, but will not happen immediately. With Easter looming, the likely disruption is fairly obvious. Also more traffic is using the Chester Road exit from our community, to avoid the Milton Green delays.

CWaC Highways are doing what they can to resolve this unexpected problem and it was suggested that notices be erected to inform people of likely work dates. He hopes this update is helpful just now.
