The Rock Walk, at Bolesworth Castle

  • stretches for half a mile above the Castle and has stunning views across to the Welsh Hills and Liverpool. It was originally planted up by Anthony Barbour in 1986. Many new camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas and other spring plants have been added to the collection. New paths have been created and original stone features restored. The walk will take you up the Bridge Walk before the climb up to The Rock Walk. This is a strenuous walk (steep at times) and only suitable for keen walkers. No children under 12 – owing to steep drops down to the drive. The walk then continues through the castle gardens and round the lake.

This Spring is an ideal time to see the Rock Walk in all its glory in May

Open on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th of May, as part of the National Garden Scheme(NGS). Tickets are £10 per person (children aged 12 – 16 are free), with the entire ticket price going to the fabulous charities that NGS work with, including Maggie's Centres.

You'll be able to grab yourself a cup of delicious Lost Barn Coffee, cake or soup and you can even bring your four legged friends too, just please ensure to keep them on a lead and clean up after them!

After taking in the incredible views from the Rock Walk, you're invited to continue round the Castle gardens and lakeside walk.

Booking is essential – tickets available at time slots include 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm, 4pm-5.30pm
