A fire took hold in the woodland near Moss Lane, on Bolesworth Estate land on Wednesday evening, and by the time it was brought under control, Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service had divided the incident into four sectors, with crews working across every one of them. Two crews were still on site on Thursday morning, damping down. Fortunately, no properties were damaged and nobody was hurt.
Boleworth Estate say that they are hugely grateful to the Fire & Rescue crews, to the farmers, gamekeepers and neighbours who arrived without being asked and simply got on with it, and to whoever spotted the smoke and picked up the phone. That call matters more than most people ever realise.
This was a genuine community effort. People turned up, pitched in, and helped however they could. Bolesworth are incredibly thankful to everyone who played a part, however big or small.
