New CEO at CWAC reveals forthcoming big changes.

Del Curtis, took over the Council in the summer, and in her first interview with the Local Democracy Reporting Service, said that as the Council emerges from the Covid era they're creating a 'new borough plan' that would re-imagine and re-focus how services were delivered between 2024 and 2028. You can contribute to all this – see below.

The CEO also stated her intention to make the council "an employer of choice" – so attracting and retaining top quality staff; in addition she is determined to pursue a devolution deal that would enable the Council, along with Cheshire East and Warrington, more collective control over finances and strategic direction (rather like Liverpool City Region, and Greater Manchester Combined Authority).

There is a consultation, called 'Join the Conversation' so that people can share what services they want and how they should be delivered. You can have your say by completing the consultation on line here.

She also highlighted the work of the Co-operative Councils' Innovation Network, an alliance of local authorities including Cheshire West that believes traditional models of 'top-down governance' are 'no longer fit for purpose', and instead advocates projects delivered in partnership with communities and other organisations. According to Del, CWAC is unique and diverse, as it is built around four towns, all of which are unique.

Speaking at the council's Portal building inEllesmere Port where 'hot-desking' and 'hybrid working' is now the norm, she added: "We want to have that modern workforce so we're very much about work/life balance, lovely working environments, different bases."

Make sure you have 'joined the conversation' so your voice is heard, then look out for how it all pans out in the future.
