Many of you will have seen that some areas of the village are thriving with a multiplicity of wildflowers.
Raising awareness of wildflower-friendly management is something to which TWiG has long been committed in Tattenhall and small steps, like changing your grass cutting regimes, are vital in benefiting biodiversity.
If you have been walking the Millennium Mile in recent days, you will also have noticed that both Glebe Meadow and Barn Field are awash with grasses and wildflowers – terrific for pollinators. Our Neighbourhood Plan identifies and celebrates both of these 'green spaces' as sites of nature conservation value. Both fields comprise 'unimproved grassland' (extremely rare in Cheshire) and TWiG continues to promote the significance of sustaining such conditions which seek to preserve and support pollinators such as bees, hoverflies, beetles, flies, butterflies and moths.
Pollinators are vital for food production and biodiversity and they face a range of pressures from habitat loss to pests and diseases.
Enjoy these local images everyone, taken just this week!
