A Reminder when Driving to Chester

Cheshire's Police & Crime Commissioner John Dwyer and Cheshire West & Chester Council have welcomed the installation of new average speed cameras along the A41 through Christleton and Waverton. The four cameras are situated along the A41 between Toll Bar Road at the edge of Great Boughton, and Saighton Lane, Waverton, and will reinforce existing 30mph and 40mph speed limits.

The Commissioner and Cllr Karen Shore, Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways & Strategic Transport, went to see the scheme in action. Police and Crime Commissioner, John Dwyer, said: "Average speed cameras work and I'm really pleased to see these cameras in place. This project is a direct response to concerns raised by local residents and Council data that showed a need for this type of scheme, and I am grateful to the Council for working in partnership to make this happen. Making Cheshire's roads safer is a priority in my Police and Crime Plan. It's also one of the top issues raised with me by residents and I want everyone in Cheshire to be able to benefit from schemes like this if it's suitable for their community. So I hope people will be reassured that if there is proven local need then we will be able to work together to deliver results."
