Art Exhibition Raises £706 for Cancer Research

During the last few days we have been advertising the Art Exhibition, featuring the work of local farmer, Brian Smith. This was held on Saturday 17 June in the Barbour Institute.

A quite remarkable day was enjoyed by everyone and Brian and Margaret thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Thanks to everyone, young and not so young, who supported this venture. The quite delightful comments and the very generous donations were remarkable and it would be fair to say that both Brian and Margaret were a tad overwhelmed by the levels of support and generosity.

An astonishing £706 was raised for Cancer Research.

So, a huge 'thank you' to friends, family and locals, some of whom travelled quite considerable distances. The Exhibition was testimony to local farming and village life over the last 60 years in our locality as portrayed through the eyes of Brian Smith.

Brian wishes to thank the wonderful team of helpers who assisted throughout the day and in all sorts of ways and, of course, to the wonderful refreshments that were provided.

Not least, of course, Brain pays tribute to his wonderful wife Margaret and for her continued support.
