Beacons will be lit across the United Kingdom on Sunday 11 November as part of the nation's Centenary Armistice Events.

Such beacons will symbolise an end to the darkness of conflict and a return to the light of peace.

This act of commemoration has taken its inspiration from a comment made by the then British Foreign Secretary, Sir Edward Grey, on the eve of The Great War ... 'The lamps are going out all over Europe, we shall not see them lit again in our life-time'.

In line with this, Bolesworth Estate has kindly organised 'The Rawhead Beacon of Light'.

This will take place at 'The Beacon Field' which is located at the top of Coppermine Lane, Bickerton SY14 8BY.

Roadside parking is extremely limited and attendees are urged not to block the lane.

'The Beacon Field' has been used previously in celebration of the Coronation, and the Silver and Golden Jubilees.

'The Rawhead Beacon of Light' will be lit at 7.00pm prompt, along with 1,000 other Beacons across the UK.

It will be November, so we kindly ask the following:

  • Please dress appropriately and wear suitable footwear
  • Torches/Head Torches are essential
  • No fireworks or sparklers
