A statement from the board of AFC Tattenhall:

"It is with heavy hearts that as the season draws to a close, the board can't see another solution other than to put the future of AFC Tattenhall on hold for the 2016/17 season. Throughout the year, despite the great efforts of a few, the dwindling numbers of players have meant that trying to field 11+ men on a Sunday morning has been like trying to herd cats. The amount of people dropping out at the 11th hour, or saying they will turn up and then go missing without an explanation has been ridiculous.

Despite having over 45 players signed on, every week we have been scrambling around trying to make up the numbers.
Of the 20 games played this season, over half have been with either 11 or less players, often with the final few players having to be persuaded on the morning of the game.

The management have a list of 5 players who are committed, and will turn up every week, come rain or shine. This isn't good enough. Unless this list can double at the very least, then we cannot carry on.

We would like to give huge thanks to Morton's Spar, Jan, Monk and Eunice at the Letters Inn, and The Event Station. Without the support of these, we wouldn't have lasted the whole season!

The lack of commitment has been disappointing, and at the moment the situation seems untenable. Unless we have a saviour out there with some magic ideas, we will go again for the 2017/18 season."
