It stands for Radio Teleswitch Service and is the radio signal system used to enable older RTS electricity meters, or DTS (Dynamic Teleswitch Service) meters, to switch between off-peak and peak times and rates.
So if you do not have a Smart Meter for your electricity, your provider should have contacted you to talk about upgrading to a new meter.
It is vital you check this out sooner rather than later, as once June 30th comes, If you have not upgraded to a Smart Meter, the heating and/or hot water provisions in your home or business could be affected. You may find that your heating and/or hot water is continually left on or remains off altogether. Or possibly the charging-up happens at the wrong time of day. Your electricity supplier won't be able to confirm how much electricity you have used during peak or off- peak times, which means your electricity costs could be much higher than before.
