A Review of Sunday's Concert in St Albans

Last night's concert was amazing – featuring two new stars of the future. Pasquale Orchard, soprano, hails from New Zealand where she was the 2019 National Young Performer of the Year, and Emyr Jones, baritone, is from North Wales where he has had multiple successes at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Both are studying at the RNCM in Manchester. Pasquale is completing the International Artist Diploma and Emyr an MMUS degree. They will be performing as soloists in the RNCM's 2022 production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.

They gave us a wonderfully powerful operatic performance last night and were able to use the excellent acoustics of St. Albans to the maximum. We would love to have them back again and will watch their future careers with interest.

They were accompanied by Jonathan Fisher, who amongst other accomplishments, is a Staff Pianist and Coach at the RNCM. He is a talented pianist in his own right and delighted the audience with a performance of Johannes Brahms' Intermezzo in E flat Major .

It was great to have an audience of 65+ to enjoy the performance in a Covid-19 secure environment.

The next concert will be Jazz at the Barbour on Sunday 13th February – more details next month
