The month of May is 'Local and Community History Month', particularly significant this year since 2022 is also the 10th Anniversary of our Local History Website CLICK HERE.

The Website is dedicated to celebrating and sustaining the local history of Tattenhall and in promoting community-wide engagement and inclusion.

If you are new to the village, then this is your 'go to' location, in celebration of local heritage.

Over the last decade, our community have been invaluable in providing a multiplicity of artefacts and interviews which support the varied culture and heritage of this village.

Painstaking research has been undertaken to ensure that the local history archive is housed in one place, accessible for all.

Following the multiple lockdowns and social distancing requirements of COVID, 'now' is the perfect opportunity to get out and about and investigate your local surroundings.

'A Decade of Discovery' has seen the creation and continued development of the Tattenhall Local History Website; the publication of 'Tattenhall – A Community United by War' and of the 'Heritage Trail Pamphlet'; the installation of the Historical Interpretation Panel opposite the Barbour Institute, and the positioning of an Artefacts Display Cabinet in the stairwell of the Barbour Institute. In addition, nostalgic photographic exhibitions have taken place in both Tattenhall and in Burwardsley; donations from the latter being used to create and install a bespoke Oak Memorial Plaque which is housed in the Church of St John the Divine. There have been lectures (most recently to residents at Gifford Lea), guided walks and support for community events; Tattenhall Local History providing the historical context for the reintroduction of the Tattenhall Wakes, held last summer.
