THE STANDARD Education Awards 2025

sponsored by Excell Supplies

TheChester Standard wants to hear about all who are thriving within Cheshire West's education community.

Nominations can ensure that teachers, pupils, assistants and support staff get the praise that they deserve. The 2025's awards will feature 10 categories, which means plenty of opportunity to tell THE STANDARD about those throughout our village area who are helping to inspire, encourage and assist, schoolchildren.

Don't miss this opportunity to acknowledge those working so hard in our education settings.

The 10 categories are:

  • Pupil of the Year: A YOUNG person who has achieved something beyond expectations, not necessarily the highest academic achiever; perhaps someone who has worked hard to develop themselves personally, showing great determination.
  • Head Teacher of the Year: AN INSPIRATIONAL head teacher who has shown exceptional leadership, management, teaching skills and commitment to their school or college.
  • Secondary School of the Year: A SECONDARY SCHOOL which has had an exceptional year – may be through improvements in attendance levels, parent engagement or examination results, or something else commendable.
  • Secondary Teacher of the Year: A SECONDARY TEACHER who inspires and engages pupils in order for them achieve their full academic and social potential. There are teachers in our area who ignite a fire of learning and discovery – let them be acknowledged for their vital contribution.
  • Support Worker of the Year: This award recognises an INDIVIDUAL for their outstanding contribution in supporting pupils, students, teachers and the life of their school. Such people are often 'unsung heroes' – so let them be acknowledged.
  • Teaching Assistant of the Year: A TEACHING ASSISTANT who raises the aspirations of pupils, making a real difference to their learning and helping them to reach their full potential.
  • Early Years Education Award: A SUCCESSFUL child-minding provider, nursery, preschool or organisation which stands out from the rest for their early years support or provision. We have one in our village – have you nominated them?
  • Primary School of the Year: A PRIMARY SCHOOL which has had an exceptional year, this may be through improvements in attendance levels, parent engagement or examination results, or other commendable achievements. What about Park Primary's "Our Village Our Future" initiative?
  • Specialist Provision School of the Year: A SPECIALIST PROVISION SCHOOL (schools for pupils with SEND or emotional and behavioural difficulties, alternative provisions and pupil referral units) that has had a standout academic year.
  • Primary Teacher of the Year: A PRIMARY TEACHER who inspires and engages primary school pupils in order to help them achieve their full academic and social potential.

These awards are not solely about academic achievement, so if you know of someone who has made great progress either by themselves or through helping others, THE STANDARD want to hear from you.

Nominations will close on Monday, April 28, with trophies to be presented to winners in June.
