The image is taken from the Tattenhall in pictures book produced by the parish council for the millennium. It recounts the events in 1967 when a group of 'housewives' took action to prevent felling of oak trees during the development of the Oaklands estate. CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE.
The story appeared in the press at the time and one resident remembers a woman protester being interviewed up a tree! It would also be great to hear from anyone with any memories of their time in the village in the late sixties as I am hoping to use these recollections as inspiration for a piece of theatre next year.
