Here are the details of the next 'long' U3A Walk which will be held on Thursday 25 May.
Our long walk for the month of May starts at Loggerheads Country Car Park and heads towards Moel Famau but does not go quite to the top; cutting around the top of Moel Famau to return back to Loggerheads.
There are stretches of moderate or steep uphill sections but our walk cuts out some of the uphill and certainly the steep downhill off Moel Famau itself.
The latter part of the walk is along fairly easy going terrain.
There are several stiles and the only farm animals that you are likely to see are sheep.
The walk is about 5 miles and takes approx 2.5 hours.
There is a cafe and shop at Loggerheads which has a wide variety of cakes/snacks etc. but there is no other cafe or any other facilities en route. It is probably best to take a drink and at least a snack.
Car parking is sometimes limited at Loggerheads so we do need to car share as much as possible.
The distance from Tattenhall to Loggerheads is about 25 miles/40 mins and car parking is £2 for 4 hours, so we should take as few cars as possible.
I suggest we meet at Alisons in Tattenhall at 9:15 for a 10:00 am start from Loggerheads.
Directions – follow the A55 taking the A5118 to Penymynydd and then Mold (the junction after Broughton Retail Park). At the roundabout at Mold follow the A494 to Ruthin. Loggerheads is about 3 miles on the right.
On this occasion, and because of car sharing, it is vital that you telephone me to confirm if you are coming and so that we can be sure of who is sharing with whom. Bad weather can also mean a change of plans – jillhug@ hotmail.co.uk or 01829 770634.
Remember, you don't have to be a U3A member to join us for a couple of trial walks but after that, we do ask you to join the group. We look forward to seeing you and let's hope for terrific weather.
